PHOTOGRAPHY

For most of my fishing as for nearly all angler, I am alone so photographing my fish is a bit different.
Firstly I use a storm pole with flourescent tape set as follows :

One piece at head height, the other two pieces positioned where I would normally hold the fish.
I then place this at the rear of my unhooking mat.

CAMERA

I prefer to use an "S.L.R.", camera placed on a tripod with a bulb release attached to the camera.
I then position the bulb release where my knee would be, adjust the camera so the pole is focused correctly turn the camera on removing the lens cover.
All set up in minutes.
As alot of fisheries do not allow the use of carp sacks, I keep my fish in the landing net secured with a bankstick.
Place the fish on the mat, remove the pole, hold up, smile, knee pressed onto release, hey presto perfect picture

I would prescribe an S.L.R. camera over instant or digital cameras for self photography, if only for the fact that a bulb release can be used instead of a self timer which invariably goes wrong - i.e. the fish moves or you have'nt picked the fish up as you hear the shutter go.
