LINE

The item of tackle so easily overlooked, yet the most important item in the carpers armoury.
A good abrasive resistant main line.
Like most items of tackle these days there are so many companies making line so I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at whats on offer in the monofilament market.

This is just the tip of the ice berg, there are so many manufacturers to list including, "ABU, GARDENER, KORDA, and ULTIMA",  to name but a few.
The line I am currently using is the ultra thin "SUFIX HERCULINE"
This line casts beautifully and as you can see from the table abive, is up to 0.08mm thinner than the rest.
I must add that most lines vary in thickness & breaking strains than as stated.
The ones listed are as stated on the packaging by the manufacturers as a guide only.
One line sticks out from all the rest, and has definately stood the test of time. That is the  "DAIWA SENSOR",  and I keep a spool for emergences and at approximately £6.00 a spool is well worth it.
I recently purchased a couple of spools of the new line by Berkely called  "IRON-SILK",  and have yet to test it.
Look out for my review on this line
