I have been using readymades for over a year now, but I want to start making my own. I have a limited budget, but want a good working bait of my own where do I start?

Making your own bait is very cheap and cost effective,but time consuming.
If you have had success on the readymades then I would say stick with that company and use their base mix,though saying that most base mixes are pretty much the same it is only the additives that make them different.
Talk to your bait manufacturer and get his advice on additives and flavours which work in your area.
I could give you a recipe to make a very cheap bait that will catch you fish, but it would be false economy as there is nothing better than a tried and tested bait company.
