A BIT ABOUT ME



I was the ripe old age of 6 when I started fishing. The venue was "The Ropewalk" at Sandwich in Kent.
It was some 30 years later when I returned to do some Tench fishing that I accidently caught my first carp.It was dark, but under the street lights it looked like a gold bar.It was a 6lb 6oz common carp and I along with the fish was hooked.
My most memorable catch was my first 30. I was at Fordwich Lake in Kent for a week long session and strong winds and torrential rain had been forcast.After setting up in one of my favourite swims it was a whole 5 days before I had my first take at 04.20 on the Friday morning, a mirror of 22lb.
On Staurday morning the once full 40 acre lake was now empty except for myself.
70mph winds were forecast and torrential rain due to hit and did with a vengeance.A strong gust hit my rods setting off both buzzers and after checking they were still on the pod my left hand rod "took off" and I was into a very good fish which took some 60 yards of line.
Trying not to get blown into the lake, I made my way up the long casting platform to land the fish.
After an intense battle I could not believe what was laying in the folds of the net, "The Clown" at 30lb 10oz.
At this time we were allowed to sack fish for half an hour.So I was on the phone to get the fish witnessed and photographed.
No sooner had I released the fish then the same rod was away again giving me a 20lb 6oz mirror, and then later a another mirror of 24lb 2oz.
Then the worst thing happened...........
I had to leave..........
WORK what a horrible four letter word!
